Information
Focus on taking Auditions through Masterclasses, Lectures, Sectionals, Mock Auditions and Lessons with Faculty Karl Pituch of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Denise Tryon of the Philadelphia Orchestra.
There will be 2 mock auditions that take place through the week: high horn and low horn. In preparation for these mock auditions, there will be mastclasses lead by both Karl Pituch and Denise Tryon on the specific lists. We ask that you print out the lists and come prepared with the music for the specified excerpts. After each mock audition, we will discuss the results of the auditions.
Besides the orchestral excerpts, we ask that you prepare a solo horn piece. We feel that playing an unaccompanied piece will help you prepare for an audition. We will have a masterclass on solo horn pieces and you will have an opportunity to perform the piece sometime during the week.
There will be an opportunity to have a lesson with either Karl or Denise during the week.
We will also be working as sections to explore what makes a great section, and what part you play in that section.
There will be lectures and discussions on audition preparation, performance anxiety, warm up techniques, resumes, plus much more.
Audition Mode will take place at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Participants must be at least 21.
Auditors must be at least 18.
If you have audited once, but are still under 21, you may be a full participant in the Seminar.
